EMS 4.0 – All your information in one place
The EMS 4.0 Quick Start consolidates key activities in one place. It also lets you see activities separated by business function, and segregates those functions into logical groups.
- Principal Investigators and chemical users can now manage their inventories easily, find/obtain/order chemicals available on site, look up MSDS information with a single click, make electronic chemical disposal requests, and mark chemicals as ’surplus’. A new and unique feature of EMS 4.0 allows users to search for and substitute required chemicals with Green Chemical Alternatives, recommended by the EPA or approved by various entities as environmentally friendly.
- Environmental Health and Safety departments can readily manage new chemical approvals, MSDS updates and regulatory reports. they can also get automated reminders of over-due tasks and projects, perform inspections and audits, and review data alerts easily.
- Facilities operations can readily access chemical receiving and transfer functions, waste pick-up/disposal function and produce required shipping paperwork and related documentation.
- Corporate and Facility/Plant Management can review the compliance performance of facilities, the status of permits and related tasks, and produce a variety of reports and data related to effectively managing their organizations.
Additional 4.0 feature include:
Integration with the New 2008 Emergency Response Guide (ERG). This helps satisfy DOT’s requirement that hazardous materials shipments be accompanied by emergency response information under49 CFR 172.602. EMS 4.0 allows users to access, view and print ERG codes together with the Uniform Waste Manifest, LDRs, Bills of Lading and related waste shipment documents.
Fire Code Regulations. New Fire Code regulations, managed and released by the International Code Council, include rules for the building, storage and use of facilities that handle hazardous materials. EMS 4.0 allows entities to prepare reports in support of facility or laboratory construction and operation in accordance with building codes, storage limits and storage locations developed by the ICC. This includes emergency planning and preparedness, fire department access, fire hydrants, automatic sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, hazardous materials storage and use, and fire safety requirements for new and existing buildings and premises.
GHS Labeling. EMS 4.0 provides the tools to manage and produce labels under the “Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)”. GHS addresses classification of chemicals by types of hazard and includes harmonized hazard communication elements, including labels and safety data sheets. This insures that information on physical hazards and toxicity from chemicals be available in order to enhance the protection of human health and the environment during the handling, transport and use of these chemicals. The GHS rules and regulations on chemicals apply at at the national, regional and worldwide levels, which facilities international trade.
Multilingual Capabilities. EMS 4.0 is now available in many languages and comes with a built-in capability to have additional languages added at the client’s option. Current releases include Chinese, Japanese, Malay, French, German and Greek.
Electronic Reporting. EMS 4.0 includes new electronic reporting capabilities, including implementation of the new California AB2286 requirements.
Current customers will have unlimited access to Automated Update Service, where they can download MSDS electronic documents, chemical reference and hazard class data and management reports.
