Image- or
text-based Material Safety Data Sheets can be viewed across
the organization over the Internet, corporate Intranet, or
by way of a local or wide area network. An easy-to-use
search screen makes finding the correct and most up-to-date
MSDS simple and fast. Enter the product name, manufacturer,
MSDS # or any other data field, and the image- or text-based
MSDS is returned for viewing or printing. Electronically
provided MSDS’s now meet OSHA right-to-know requirements for
instant hazard information access 24 hours a day.
The database can be built or converted from MSDS’s in a
variety of formats: vendor database, CD-ROM, fax, e-mail,
scanned images. Chemical Safety can take responsibility for
converting the current database, gathering MSDS’s for
products in the inventory database, or scanning hard-copy
MSDS files to build an initial database, and/or to maintain
MSDS files on an ongoing basis.
The Chemical Reference Database is included with the MSDS
Module and contains chemical, regulatory, and hazard
information on the regulated components of products. The
MSDS database lists the components of a product and the
chemical reference database provides more detailed profiles
of these components. This database is updated regularly to
maintain the most current regulations. It provides
information on synonyms, specific gravity, hazard
information, Uniform Fire Code and chemical
properties/characteristics such as molecular weight, flash
point and target organs.
The MSDS Management module becomes even more powerful when
it interfaces with other EMS modules. Direct links to the
Inventory module keeps changing inventory items associated
with the correct MSDS and federal, state, local and
international regulations.
The MSDS Management module is available as an individual
module or as part of the complete EMS package.
