Q: Will EMS give me a
reminder when I keep a waste container past 30 days, and the
reporting quantity of a chemical on hand?
A: Yes, EMS will warn you when certain reports or
tasks are due. EMS can run all your past due reports with
the single click of a mouse button.
Q: How does EMS calculate my SARA or Tier II report?
A: EMS can create a report for each facility of all
material inventory with a reportable quantity.
Q: What if I submit my HMBP report electronically?
A: EMS can create an electronic file for you to
submit, and also print a paper copy for you to review.
Q: Is EMS compatible with my current MSDS, Inventory,
PO system?
A: Yes, EMS is compatible. Because of EMSs Open
Database Connectivity architecture your data can be fully
integrated/converted.
Q: How are MSDSs entered into EMS and how are they
available to me?
A: EMS includes an MSDS database containing 4,500
generic MSDS records, and a chemical reference database of
7,000. MSDS images can be added by scanning hardcopies, or
receiving them by fax and e-mail. Chemical Safety also
offers scanning and data entry services.
MSDSs may have image or text file copies of the paper MSDS
attached, which can be quickly displayed on screen in EMS or
on the Internet.
Q: Where do the chemical regulations come from, and
are they updated?
A: The chemical regulations within EMS come from the
EPA. When you add your inventory to EMS you can select from
the Federal List of Lists which regulations apply. New
regulations are added whenever the EPA publishes a new List
of Lists.
Q: Is EMS ODBC compatible?
A: Yes, EMS accommodates Open Database Connectivity,
and operates on various database platforms including Oracle
and SQL.
Q: How will EMS save me time and money?
A: EMS is a relational database, and avoids duplicate
data entry: when you make a change in a chemical reference
all related inventory and MSDS records are automatically
updated.
EMS also offers many predefined reports and forms to help
you comply with government regulations thereby avoiding
costly fines. EMS will warn you when reports are due and
quickly print them.
Inventory and waste can be easily tracked from cradle to
grave.
Hardcopy MSDSs can be scanned into EMS. Additional MSDSs are
available in electronic form from various vendors. MSDSs can
be viewed at any location 24 hours per day.
Barcode scanners facilitate a quick inventory in the field.
Data can be uploaded and EMS will update any records.
Q: How does barcode scanning work?
A: EMS assigns a barcode number to each
inventory/waste item. A label with the barcode can be
attached to this item. Field inventory will be quick and
easy from here on. Just scan the barcode label, change the
quantity on hand, maybe move it to a different location and
you are done. The data can be uploaded to EMS and all your
records will automatically be updated.
Q: Can I use my PDA to update EMS?
A: Your PDA can be used to update EMS with Audit,
Safety Inspection, Inventory, and Waste data. Your PDA can
even send data to EMS wirelessly!
Q: What are the minimum system requirements?
A: 128MB RAM
Windows 98/NT/2000/XP
200MB Hard Disk Space
Internet Explorer 5.0
Q: How much does EMS cost?
A: Pricing depends on the number of user and site
licenses, networking & customization requirements, and which
EMS modules you need.
