Q: Updating systems which use
Dynamic Paths in SYSTEM.INI
A: Before installing the Update, open the SYSTEM.INI
file in DOS or in Windows Wordpad, and globally replace
Dynamic Paths with the actual drive letter. For example,
replace
\\us-wv-a21\fenton with E: (NOTE: After update is complete,
edit the file again and replace the drive letter with the
Dynamic Path.)
Q: I got the message
asking if I wish to Overwrite CTL3DV2.DLL?
A: Some Windows NT workstation users will be asked
this question during the update process. Do NOT overwrite
this file. If you overwrite this file Windows, will lose its
3-D look.
Q:
The Update process does not accept the path to the EMS/WEMS
directory, even though you know it is correct.
A: Cancel the Update. Click the Start button, select
Run, and type C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\UPDATE\DOUPDATE\NV
This will enable you to run the update process without
validating the path.
Q:
After updating EMS, users see a message asking for the file
CTL3DV2.DLL.
A: Go to the EMS folder on your server and copy
CTL3DV2.DLK to your workstation's C:\WINDOWS folder. Rename
the new copy of the file as CTL3DV2.DLL.
Q:
Error when running update: Incorrect Password.
A: Be aware that the password is case-sensitive. If
you continue to have an error, contact Chemical Safety.
