Lesson 8 - The Waste Management Module

Introduction Profiles Waste Items Waste Drums Transferring Waste

Introduction

The waste database enables you to create manifests in state-specific formats, print all required shipping documents and labels, manages profiles, tracks chemicals from cradle-to-grave, and easily creates all regulatory reports. Existing inventory items can be transferred to the waste database through the requisition option.

Profiles

The waste profile function stores detailed information on each of your waste streams. These profiles can be attached to manifests and drum inventory. Information stored in a profile includes: chemical composition, proper shipping name, hazard labels, waste stream, disposal method, waste disposal facility, tax category, and expiration date.

NOTE: You can have multiple profiles for the same kind of waste stream depending on how the waste will be disposed of. Selecting File, Action from the menu bar will enable you to print DOT labels, and LDR forms.

Waste Items and Drums

This database contains detailed information on each waste item. Individual waste items can be consolidated into a waste drum via a transfer or directly to an accumulation area. Once waste items are consilidated (through transfer) into a waste drum or an accumulation area, the waste item data is still available in the waste item database as well as in the drum or accumulation inventory databases.

Transferring Waste

Waste items can be individually transferred to a drum or an accumulation area. Alternatively, you can transfer waste items from an accumulation area to another accumulation area.

Waste items can also be downloaded to a barcode scanner for a field inventory. You have the option to update waste item/waste drum quantities, and move waste items/drums. After the inventory is finished all data can be uploaded to the EMS system.

NOTE: Any changes made to this report will reflect only on this report but will not adjust your inventory records in any way.

You finished the Waste module.

Return to the index page and select another database module you would like to learn more about.
